Black Hole Sun: New Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius

New Moon + Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius at 11:34p PT, an Eclipse lasting 4 hours and is the last in the Gem/Sag axis eclipses, which started in June 2020, until 2029. Themes around opening our minds, rewriting our stories, rethinking beliefs & paradigms no longer serving us. Gem/Sag is perception vs. truth. We question/get curious (Gem) and expand/move away (Sag) from old ways of being.
Every 6 months we have Eclipse Seasons. They give us insight on what’s to come and what’s to end. Eclipses are catalysts, a sort of tipping point. Solar eclipses shine the light on these shifts. It’s time to confront, deal with, and handle. These aren’t random shifts out of the blue. They’ve been in process for some time. The last time Gem/Sag eclipses happened was 10/2001-4/2003. I know it’s hard to think back that far but if you can, just take note. More recently, what’s been going on in the last 18 months for you? Or the interim of the last lunar eclipse just a couple weeks ago?
Let’s break it down some…
New Moon- The darkest phase of the lunation cycle. It’s mysterious, transcendent, and numinous. It’s the beginning of a new cycle, chock full of potential and possibilities. We take a moment to reset, recenter, and go inward but also paying attention to tendencies to be disengaged or ungrounded. It’s the realm of the unmanifest- we know something is going on but can’t quite put our finger on it. It’s a time of new beginnings and setting new intentions.
Solar Eclipse- When the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth at a New Moon. Not every New Moon, just when the alignment of the lunar nodes are just so. They shake things up but can also obscure the view. They’re portals and universal accelerators, amping things up and clearing away for new beginnings. A vessel for creative transformation but also bringing up what’s in the shadows.
Think of it like this… When the power goes out and it’s in the dark of the night. You search for your flashlights or your candles. In the meantime, you have to rely on your other senses to guide you. In time, your vision adapts to the dark. You might even be able to see things more clearly, even before you find your light source. This is the dark vision of Eclipses and New Moons. There can be value in vulnerability. There is a reservoir of resilience existing below the surface.
Sagittarius- Symbolic of freedom, philosophy, higher mind/learning, and purpose. It’s our urge for independence, to follow our instincts with arrow-like precision. It’s the need to search for the bigger pictures and truths in the hope & faith in the adventure to find meaning.
A New Moon in Sagittarius is a freedom-loving, truth seeking, travelling wanderer in search for higher spiritual meanings. Always the visionary. Sometimes a bit overzealous, best to think before speaking & check motives.

Saturn/Aquarius sextile Moon/Sag
Providing some stability and anchoring us in this lunation with an emphasis on how we’re better together, collective structures. Sextile aspects are harmonious and a complementary exchange of energy.
Eclipse Self-Care
Some say eclipses aren’t a time for manifesting or setting intentions. Instead, you can journal, reflect, meditate, be creative, or draw inward however you do. I’ve been hit by waves of exhaustion when I just HAVE to lay down and take a nap. My body doesn’t give me a choice and I’m grateful I can listen. So, listen to what your body is wanting YOU to do! If it’s dance, then fucking dance it out! If it’s Netflx & chill, then get cozy AF and just be.

New Moons set intention for the new lunation cycle, a reset button. Solar Eclipses amp up this energy and also amp up the shadow. In Sagittarius, this energy is expansive, desiring truth, understanding, meaning, and connecting our higher purpose. Sag energy takes aim and shoots for the sky with contemplation and focus. But also a tendency to be too risky & too expansive, so be intentional with your targets. Darkness can be vulnerable and disorienting but can also be the doorway to nurture our intuitions. Be aware of how the energy is showing up for you and do what you can to honor it in YOUR way.
