All the Feels & Buh-bye 2020: Full Moon in Cancer

Welcome to the last Full Moon of 2020!

AKA Holy Fuck we made it! Hands up if you thought there’d be a Zombie Apocalypse by now…

All kidding aside, this year has been massive. Every month felt like it’s own year. Hard to think back to when we could hug each other, share lunch with a friend, and on and on. I know it will come in time and the changes are worth not risking lives. So, if you’ve got a Pod friend, SO, or anyone you feel safe with, give them a big hug! Those of us who thrive on human contact and connection are not doing okay.

And that’s what happens to me when the Moon is in Cancer. #allthemotherfuckingfeels

The Moon is in her happy place in Cancer. It will be at its most full at 7:28p PT.

Energy can feel extra emo, lots of insights, maybe a lot of mental chatter (thanks to the Sun in Capricorn), and a need to be or to nurture.

Full Moons shine the light on the path, what’s working, what isn’t. They’re filled with critical insight, deep gratitude, and a call to release. We’re at the halfway point of the lunar cycle and the Moon will begin to wane. The Full Moon is the culmination of intentions set at the last New Moon. Regardless of what that means to you, it’s a time to celebrate and to honor the journey.

Nurture Yourself Above All Else

“We are given the potential to nurture who we are becoming with grace and an open heart.”

- Jenn Racioppi.

Cancer is a very personal sign. Warm, caring, protective, and also insecure, clingy, and a fear of being alone. That’s how the energy of Cancer can be expressed. A Cancer Moon gifts us the subtle signals from the psyche, a doorway for inner & outer healing. Take notice of what emotions are coming up. Are they yours? Someone else’s? Cancer can be an emotional shape shifter, morphing as it connects and mirrors the emotions of others. Breathe into the discernment and differentiation of what’s yours and what’s Other.

Cancer is the sign of family, home, and ancestral roots. As the Archetypal Mother & Healer, Cancer never gives up on those they love. Sensitive. Compassionate. Evokes Goddess Quan Yin or Tara, the embodiment of love & kindness and symbols of wisdom and strength.

As per usual (thanks 2020), there are many other things in the Cosmos that are lending to the intensity of this Moon. Uranus, the planet of freedom, innovation and sudden breakthroughs is making a potent aspect to the Moon. This alignment offers an opportunity to take some space, take a step back, and widen your perspective. Check in with your relationship to change, objectivity is key. Uranus, the archetypal Rebel, expects the unexpected and reminds us to ask the tough questions, you are already safe and have what you need.

Another important aspect to note is Pluto (Capricorn) & Mars (Aries). The dance from these two has a battle energy to it. A year of many things beyond our control (Pluto, the archetypal Underworld) and wanting to get that control back (Mars, the archetypal Warrior). Again, it’s about perspective. How can you widen your view to see the bigger picture?

Though there are more aspects/connections going on, the last I want to mention is Chiron, the archetypal Wounded Healer and it’s aspect to the Sun & Moon. This reflects a deep, core wound and potential old triggers. There is deep emotional healing in this space. Be gentle as feelings may be more vulnerable than usual.

Reflection Questions:

What has come to fruition since the last New Moon (just over 2 weeks ago)

What are you leaving behind in 2020?

What was revealed in the past year?

Where have you gained clarity?

How were you nurtured?

What needs nurturing?

How have you transitioned since January 1?

What can you celebrate?

What do you need to be fully open to receiving in 2021?

What we put in motion now, will impact the how/what we will be up to for at least the next 20 years. This is a very auspicious time and I encourage you, at the very least to sit underneath the Full Moon tonight and let it guide and ground you.

Thank you to all who have read down this far. I always wonder who does. Maybe I should leave some special little nugget? We've come to the end of a calendar year, the beginning of Winter, and some other in-between spaces. I'm not one of those "New Year, New You" kinda people. I actually loathe it. I typically set intentions, meditate on my words for the year ahead, and do some card readings. Which, btw you can sign up for your very own right here. For me, renewal and resetting completely, comes in the Spring. More ahead when we get there.

As always, may the light shine on you. May the shadows teach you. May you be open to the signs and symbols all around you. They are always there, you just need the right kind of vision.

* By shadow and light, I don’t mean positive or negative. They are expressions of the energies of life which we can tap into during the phases of the moon, flavored by what sign it is in.
