I sure as fuck have been. So many emotions flooding me. Waves crashing, tides rising and falling. A veritable roller coaster of life. Sometimes throwing me around so much I want to puke and other times I just want to experience it again and again.
We’ve got 𝘢 𝘚𝘏𝘐𝘛 𝘛𝘖𝘕 (𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵) 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘗𝘐𝘊 + 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 astrological magics happening. This year has really been a series of epically, unique events. In true 2020 fashion, we’re going out with a BANG!
Cosmic Consciousness
The Moon, feminine in nature (not gendered, but energetically) reflects one's psyche. It’s symbolic of the deep, hidden work of the unconscious. In the Taoist tradition, it’s Yin energy- the receptive, soft, resting, still, downward/inner movements of the soul.
A New Moon is marked as a time of reset, when the veil between this world and Otherworlds is lifted. When we wander into the darkness to nurture intuitions. Because of this,“𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘤 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘴.” - 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘒𝘢𝘺𝘦
The slate of the cycle is wiped clean, time of new beginnings, a gift from the Universe to reset and start over for the new cycle. The Goddess of the New Moon is Artemis, Protectress and Huntress. A symbolic reminder to take time to honor nature, protect what is sacred, and to remain calm and focused.
The Moon in Sagittarius seeks freedom, open spaces, and a perpetual truth. The symbol of Sagittarius is the Archer Pan or Diana. Paired with Artemis, there is an elevated appreciation for the truths revealed. Drawing back the gaze of your bow and expanding your curiosity to see where it lands. Sagittarius is a traveling wanderer in search for higher spiritual meanings. Always the visionary, sometimes a bit overzealous with the truth, it's a time to think before speaking and check motives. Lean into imagination. How can beliefs be reinvisioned? Are there blocks in the way?
And if this wasn’t enough, minutes before the peak of the New Moon is a Solar Eclipse.
The Darkness at the End of the Tunnel
Eclipses are a sort of portal, a tunnel revealing what’s been hiding in the shadows. Historically, eclipses were feared and seen as omens. Presently, there are messages to be found. Nothing to be afraid of, just to be aware and open. In fact, for some, the messages may come in the days that follow. Some subtle and some not so.
Think of it like this… When the power goes out and it’s in the dark of the night. You search for your flashlights or your candles. In the meantime, you have to rely on your other senses to guide you. In time, your vision adapts to the dark. You might even be able to see things more clearly, even before you find your light source. This is the dark vision of Eclipses and New Moons. There can be value in vulnerability. There is a reservoir of resilience existing below the surface.

Solar Eclipses happen when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth and when it's a New Moon. Not every New Moon, just when the alignment of the lunar nodes is just so. The Solar Eclipse at 8:14a may usher in creative transformation and over-arching changes, a rebirth. Instincts and feelings are heightened and can sometimes overtake logic and reason. Things can get shaken up, shaken loose, and shift your focus.
This particular Eclipse is a South Node Eclipse, meaning it's an even deeper connection to the “old” making way for the “new.” In its darkness, it’s illuminating the ways one can get stuck in these old beliefs, old patterns. Paying attention to one’s relationship to being able to let go to make way for the new. But at the same time, it could be a way to shine a light on the mastery in life and how to use this to move forward into the new season ahead.
