Full Moon Rising: Aries Harvest Moon

Updated: Sep 6, 2021

How is it another 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟 already? How is it October? I mean, am I the only one who feels like time is speeding up these days? This is the first of two Full Moons to happen in October. Something that only happens every couple years or so.

Also called the Harvest Moon, as the first Full Moon of Autumn, tomorrow’s Full Moon brings revelations in its bright light. Our senses become heightened. We celebrate where we’ve grown (our harvest of “seeds” planted). We use the light to guide our path. To show us what we’re being drawn to or pushed away from. A shadow aspect could be feeling stuck, like an animal paralyzed in the headlights or an unwillingness to take responsibility for your actions. We may be shown things we don’t want to see but we get to decide if we want to do anything about it.

The Moon will be at its most full, in 𝒜𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓈, at 2:05p PDT today (10.1.20). Aries is the archetypal warrior, the Ram. It’s the Get Shit Done sign, see Mars Retrograde blog. Aries is independent, self-assertive & self-reliant. The Sun is in 𝐿𝒾𝒷𝓇𝒶, I talked a bit about Libra season in another blog. Libra is compassionate, balanced, & sociable.

A 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟 happens when it’s in direct opposition to the Sun, with the Earth sitting in the middle. We can look at it this way--  if the Sun is representative of our conscious minds and the Moon of our unconscious, we sit on Earth in the middle of this tension. Carl Jung describes this tension as arising when one is confronted with the unconscious. A gap created in between, to make space for something highly intuitive to come through. It’s what he called the “transcendent function.”

He refers to this as:

An integral event (or process) which unites the pairs of opposites where a new content emerges.

- CG Jung.

It’s a blending, fusion. We have this tension of opposites of the light and the dark existing at the same time. The beauty of this tension is the creation of something new, something creative. In other words, transcendent. It is the remarkable alchemical union of consciousness and the unconscious.

I like to think of it as the infinity symbol or the yin-yang symbol. Both incorporate the duality to birth something new. As humxns on this Earth, we're the vessel for this numinous essence to come through.

The Moon reflects the cycles of the psyche.

𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯-𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩-𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘺. 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩-𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩. 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵-𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬. 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴-𝘜𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴.

Even though the Sun and Moon are in opposition in the sky, they don’t fight against each other. They work continually to interact, creating the dance of Luna (Moon) + Sol (Sun).

The Aries-Libra lesson is balance. They type of balance Aries thrives in is stability. Whereas Libra just seeks balance, not necessarily stable as the primary focus.

You can ask yourself:

Do you put others' needs before your own?

Do you take time for self-care ?

Have I been impulsive? If so, why?

Have I made time to enjoy the beauty, to have fun?

An Aries 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟 brings fiery, heated emotions. Look for where your emotions are running hot or impulsive. Aries is a force of nature, the first sign in the Zodiac calendar ready to bring it on. New beginnings, taking charge, and being brave enough to lead the way. It gives the 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟 even more of what the 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟 brings.

Ladies Night

Goddesses Tara, Quan Yin, Demeter, Selene, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, and Isis have been associated with the 𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟.

Tαяα brings peace, compassion, and liberation.

Aρняσ∂ιтє, goddess of beauty and love.

Dємєтєя in her connection to the harvest and changing of seasons.

Sєℓєηє was depicted in her chariot carrying the moon across the night sky, reminding us of the constant change in phases.

Cєяяι∂ωєη was known as a powerful goddess of

transformation and rebirth, ready to aid you in

letting go of things which no longer serve you.

Qυαη уιη is known as the Goddess of Compassion & Mercy

translated to “One Who Sees & Hears the Cry from the Human World.”

I mention the Goddesses to draw on the qualities of their stories. Myths can serve as a doorway to metaphorical understandings. They can provide a deeper insight into our lived experiences.

We can imagine into the energy of these myths and figures as the Moon brings the tides of feelings + emotions. The Goddesses do not limit learning to the “lighter” aspects of their  being, often the focus of Western cultures to value light above all else. But  also equally brings wisdom in their “darker” nature. To elevate one over the other not only cuts us away from half of our understanding of our own psychological insights but also inhibits our ability to understand others.

What in the Actual Fuck?

There is shit ton of fuckery going on in the astro world. And I mean that in the most honoring & reverent way. LOTS GOING ON THIS WEEK.

ᴘʟᴜᴛᴏ (archetype of transformation, depth, the Underworld) & ꜱᴀᴛᴜʀɴ (archetype of structure, time, and tradition) both station direct and will be in a post shadow phase. A post shadow phase is just a review of the lessons that happened in the area of your charts with ᴘʟᴜᴛᴏ & ꜱᴀᴛᴜʀɴ.

Each of these planets have been in retrograde for several months. ᴘʟᴜᴛᴏ in May and Saturn in April.

ꜱᴀᴛᴜʀɴ won’t be in Capricorn for another 28 years, so it’s making sure we’ve done the work. Think back to 2017, when ꜱᴀᴛᴜʀɴ was in Capricorn last. What themes were you facing in life? What challenges? What victories?

What inner work has been making its way since April?

What are you finally ready to let go of or take back?

Where did you need to  set boundaries?

What has your relationship to responsibilities in your life been like?

Who do you want to be on the other side of this?

Revisit past karma/lessons- how do you respond now vs then?

Mars and ꜱᴀᴛᴜʀɴ meet up in conflict in the sky. It does no one any good to resist this conflict. The more you struggle, the harder it becomes. Kinda like when someone on a tv show would get stuck in quicksand. If we settle into what the conflict is here to show us, we open space for healing.

PS- what the fuck was that all about? I definitely thought quicksand was going to be a bigger problem in my life. PPS- If you know, then you know.

Mercury moves into Scorpio, in preparation for its Retrograde station on Oct.13th- digging deep into what’s hidden underneath, looking for what’s been missed. You may have profound thoughts & communication might become intense. Just be curious, no need to think that 𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕔𝕦𝕣𝕪 ℝ𝕖𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕘𝕣𝕒𝕕𝕖 is going to fuck up your world. I mean, it could but it doesn’t always.

TL:DR (or the CliffsNotes version)
