New Moon in Capricorn: C.M.T.S.U.

The Moon entered Capricorn at 5:30a this morning and will remain there until the New Moon peaks at 9p PT Tuesday, 1/12. Capricorn is a very grounded, sometimes heavy feeling, Earth sign. Rooted in goals, structure, and tenacity.

The New Moon in Cap brings up our relationship to control, planning, and priorities. It’s skilled at taking something material and bringing it to fruition. One might even call it the most adulting of the zodiac signs, a time to notice how we care (or don’t) for ourselves. Cap isn’t one to wear its emotions on its sleeve, preferring to show love through commitment and successful “work.” You can ask yourself if you’re leaning too much or too little into these things.

The Earthiness of this New Moon gifts us the space to take all that structure inward, to acknowledge our emotions. Using the Cap energy to help give form to our aspirations. A reverent space to set our dreams in motion. We wander into the dark abyss with trust as we feel into the future.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

When the Moon is New, it’s conjunct the Sun, an aspect of blending energy, working together to influence the other. A New Moon is a time to set intentions, plant seeds, dream, and manifest. It’s a phase of new beginnings, a reset of what you want to create. But be careful to not get too caught up in the dreaminess and disconnect with reality. This is not your average New Moon, there’s bound to be bumpy roads and you might feel out of control. Just know you can take back your power and ground yourself in whatever way supports you the most.

This New Moon is particularly potent because it’s the first New Moon of the year. If NYE didn’t feel like a time to feel into what you want to create, this New Moon could be a time for you. Or even at the Spring Equinox, which is the astrological new year. The darkness of the New Moon isn’t to be feared. It’s a deeply sacred and honoring time when the veil between the worlds opens a gateway of understanding, a threshold of knowing.

Witchy AF: Hecate, Goddess of the Underworld

The Greek Goddess, Hecate, Goddess of the Underworld, is often associated with the New Moon. Hecate is often portrayed as a scary as fuck witch, and in some ways she is. The problem with the “Underworld” is it can be conflated with the Christian version of Hell. That’s what I love about mythology and archetypes, they focus on the metaphor, symbols, and stories of a thing and the meaning it holds for you.

Think of it this way, when you wake up in the darkest of rooms and you try to find your way around. At first, you bump into shit and can’t see your fucking hand in front of your face. In time, your eyes adjust. You gain a new dark vision and can navigate your way. That’s Hecate. Hecate just hangs out with her torches to light the way, the keys to unlock secrets and doors, a rope which acts as connection to new life, and a dagger to cut through all the bullshit and lies. She helps guide souls in the dark, merely showing them the way, not telling them where to go. She’s the Goddess of the betwixt and between, the liminality of life.

Can't Make This Shit Up

If ever we were in a time of liminal space, it’s now. Especially here in the U.S., as we await the inauguration of Biden/Harris and have no fucking clue what will happen between now and then. I legit can’t make this astrology shit up. The lunations and aspects happening in and around this time are really fucking unbelievable.

If you follow my page, if not, not a big deal, just check out a few of my posts or my blogs, you’ll know 2020 was a big astrological year and 2021 is too, just in a different way. A big defining influence, along with this New Moon is a dance between Saturn + Uranus. More about that tomorrow!

As always, may the light shine on you. May the shadows teach you. May you be open to the signs and symbols all around you. They are always there, you just need the right kind of vision.
