Relentless, Resilient Reflection: Full Moon in Scorpio

Tonight’s Full Moon in Scorpio at 8:31p PT packs a punch! Scorpio Full Moons can often be intense as they shed light on the deep emotions of our Shadow, in search of truth. Scorpio, ruled by Pluto God of the Underworld, is the dark depths of the psyche, the regeneration which comes from death and transformation. Whereas the Full Moon illuminates what our soul is calling to release.

Have you ever seen the ocean under a full moon with a clear sky? The water sparkles like diamonds juxtaposed against the infinite vastness.

Scorpio Moon as a Fixed Water sign is the realm of deep emotions, honoring intuition, and not fearing what will be found in the dark. It clears out the stagnation, brings pain to the surface, and calls us to step into our greatness with the fluidity of water.

Taurus Sun as a Fixed Earth sign is the realm of security, ease of life, and the comfort of consistency. With Uranus, Venus, and Mercury all in Taurus, there’s a strong Fixed Earth energy this moon. This challenges the nature of Scorpio, bringing more resistance to the change and healing being unearthed.

Strength in the Shadow

Scorpions are nocturnal predators. They burrow for safety and shelter. Evidence of their existence dates over 400 million years ago. Found in nearly all climates, withstanding intense heat, they use their pincers and stingers as a means of defense and also to kill. Mistakenly thought to be deadly, only a small percentage are venomous enough to kill a human. Their shedding exoskeleton contains fluorescence, making them glow under UV light.

We can take this knowledge and apply it metaphorically to the energy of Scorpio.

Scorpio loves the dark, it’s at home there.

Scorpio is resilient and strong.

Their strength is also their shadow.

Even in the darkest of times, their light still shines through.

Some of my most amazing transformations were birthed from the most devastating chaos. In the midst of it, I am shrouded by the darkness that chaos can bring, unable to see the rebirth that awaits me. I have a ton of Venusian influence in my chart, including Taurus Moon and Rising, which is in opposition to Scorpio. Probably why it takes time for me to see the beauty in the breakdown.

Full Moon Magic

It's the first Supermoon of the year. Also called a Pink Moon or Flower Moon, because of the blooms of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. As a Supermoon, a moon closer to earth and appearing larger, this energy will be amplified.

The Full Moon is a yang phase, a time for action. It’s a time to harvest any intentions you planted at the New Moon. The Full Moon reflects our soul’s calling, illuminating our direction and giving us the opportunity to heal. We reflect and use this light as a catalyst for change.

A simple way to start a Lunar Practice for the Full Moon is to create a space with some flowers with rounded petals.

  • Light a white candle, to reflect the energy of the light of the moon.

  • Take some time to journal.

  • Write down three things no longer serving you and burn them in a fire safe container and space.

  • Keep it super simple: Take a walk outside, look up at the moon, and take it all in.

This Moon is the juxtaposition of the joys of simple life (Taurus) with the complexities of that which is buried deep and we can’t explain (Scorpio). We are halfway through the lunar cycle, take note of where you’re being pulled towards and pushed away.

Scorpio is a Fixed Water sign bringing with it reflection, as if looking into a body of water with the light of the full moon. It's cleansing and brings the darkness of the depths floating to the surface. The relentless intensity of this Scorpio Moon is primed for us to shed our skin. Scorpio Full Moon brings these watery emotions to the surface, if we allow ourselves to be flooded, trusting that we won’t drown, but will be healed and purified.

As always, may the light shine on you. May the shadows teach you. May you be open to the signs and symbols all around you. They are always there, you just need the right kind of vision.
