On June 10th at 3:53a PT, we have a New Moon in Gemini, just shortly after an Annular Solar Eclipse at 3:41a PT. Only parts of Canada, Greenland, and N. Russia will get the full effect of the Ring of Fire caused by this Eclipse. While parts of Central & Eastern North America will experience a partial eclipse in the wee hours of dawn. Eclipses, even if partial and not viewable, bring an extra heightened awareness to our intuitions. They open up the doorways for transformation and change.
In the Astrology world, Eclipses are often referred to as portals. No two are alike and not everyone is going to feel their impact. Chances are if you’ve been experiencing strong fucking energy these past two weeks, the Eclipse has been working it’s magic. Remember, we view these things as archetypes and symbols, not causes.
The Lunar cycle begins with the New Moon. When the Moon is New, it’s conjunct the Sun, an aspect of blending energy, working together to influence the other. Think of it as hitting a little mini reset button for the next 28 days. It’s when we take a moment, sit in the darkness, and get uncomfortable with the unknown. For some, not as easy as it sounds. While the moon is appearing dark & invisible, we are reminded that the moon is still there. It’s a time to recenter and reconnect to what life is asking of us. It’s an opportunity to find clarity in the chaos.
Total Eclipse of the Sun
Typically, a New Moon is a time of new beginnings, setting intentions, and manifestations. But when you add in an Eclipse, it’s potent to be an observer and save your manifestations for the next cycle. Solar Eclipses only happen at the New Moon, two times per year, when the Moon passes between the Sun + the Earth.
Eclipses shake things loose, bringing the unseen into the light. They shift our perspectives and our comfort zones and through this discomfort create cracks and space for what’s next. They are the accelerant to the soul’s fire.

So we have this tension of opposites of the light and the dark existing at the same time to bring forth something new, something creative. In Jungian terms, the shadow represents the unconscious or repressed aspects of our psyche. Take the time to pay attention to the rumbles underneath what is happening in your life. They can be our best teachers.

This New Moon is in Gemini, the first of the Air signs. The energy of Gemini is duality, communication, friendships/relationships, and curiosity. Ruled by the planet Mercury, there’s a strong desire to know all the things. It’s important to find ways to stay grounded.
It’s the last Eclipse in Gemini until 2029. Eclipses at this degree happened in June 1983, December 1992, June 2002, and December 2011. So, chances are you’ve felt this energy before. If any of these dates feel important, it might be interesting to note any similarities, patterns, or themes.
Mercury is in the sign of Gemini and stationed retrograde (Rx) until June 22. (see my recent IG post for more info).
Mercury Rx will be conjunct the Sun + Moon, aligning our head (Gemini Sun) with our hearts (Gemini Moon), a cycle that started last June. Old stories may be revisited, some might never have come out of the shadows until now.
You might find yourself flooded with information, Mercury moves fast! Take a breather to go slow, sift through the downloads, and TRUST! Gemini is the Magician in Tarot. Words we speak now, outloud or inward, have extra power right now. What we speak will come into existence with the swiftness of winged Mercury.
Aspects, a sort of special connection between two planets, between Saturn (limits, boundaries, structures) and Uranus (breakthroughs, change, innovation) will sweep in more change with an opportunity for quick integration.
Aspects between Neptune (awareness, intuition, spirituality) and Jupiter (expansion, elevation, abundance) lift the veil between the unknown and “reality” even more.
Mercury Rx could fog up your intuitive lens with too much logic.

With all the Air energy and buzz-iness of Mercury/Gemini, it would be a good time to put on the proverbial noise cancelling headphones. Shut out the sounds of the world. Tune out to tune in.
What the Fuck Does it All Mean?

Good question! Astrology isn’t the cause, it’s the symbolism. We have autonomy and free-will, in my opinion. It gives us a framework to understand things on a deeper, connected level. Astrology is far from perfect, but there’s just something about it for me that’s almost electrifying. I guess, the biggest takeaway I get from leaning into these symbols and learning more is a sense of knowing I’m not as fucked up as I think I am. Or maybe I am but at least I’m not the only one...
